American Grating has Reached a New Level!
ISO 9001 Certification for Fiberglass Grating Manufacture

ISO 9000 is sweeping the world and is rapidly becoming the most important quality standard.

What is ISO 9001?

ISO is the International Organization for Standardization. ISO 9001 refers to a series of documents that provide international guidelines on quality management and quality system elements. ISO 9001 is a quality assurance model that is used by companies that produce, inspect, test, install and service items.

What is the difference between ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 and why did we change?

ISO 9002 is a model for quality assurance in production, installation and servicing. This is the requirement standard you use when you are not responsible for the design/development of your product or service, but wish to demonstrate capability for production, installation and servicing (identical to ISO 9001 except for design control requirement) ISO 9001is a model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing. This is the requirement when you wish to demonstrate capability for design/development of your product or service, as well as for production, installation and servicing.

We have changed because we have always designed new products and tried to improve upon our existing products.

What are the benefits of being associated with an ISO Quality Manufacturer?
  • Error reduction resulting from better systematic inspection and testing.
  • Error reduction resulting from increased employee participation, involvement, awareness and systematic employee training.
  • Better products resulting from better design control.
  • Improved productivity resulting from planning and teamwork.
  • Reduction in costs associated with failures.
  • Resolution of nonconformance and adoption of corrective and preventive action in a systematic way.
  • Improved communications both internally and externally which usually improves quality, efficiency, on time delivery and customer/supplier relations.
  • Recognition of compliance by an unbiased organization.

GRIDWALK® Molded Grating Type Phenolic is the first of its kind. It is the latest and most effective way to achieve maximum fire resistance, extremely low smoke and low toxic fume emissions. This grating was designed to be the best product for life safety during fire. The non-flammability enables it to withstand direct flame for an extended time without sustaining major structural damage. Phenolic molded fiberglass reinforced grating is made in one solid piece which distributes loads evenly to bi-directional bearing bars. GRIDWALK® molded grating is made using a premium grade phenolic fire retardant resin system which provides good corrosion resistance.

Phenolics’ outstanding fire protection qualities makes them of interest to all of us in the FRP Industries. Many markets, especially applications in public buildings and mass transit will open up to products made of phenolic resin.

Phenolic Grating is, however, limited to a range of light brown to black coloring. This makes phenolic gel coats impossible. Using an exopy or polyester gel coat will diminish the phenolics’ flammability characteristics slightly. Phenolic Pultruded Grating is also available. ABS approval pending.

Benefits:

  • High Fire Retardancy
  • Non-Toxic Emissions
  • Rejects Microbiological Attacks
  • Corrosion Resistant
  • Non-Conductive
  • Slip resistant
  • Lightweight
  • Non Magnetic
  • Impact Resistant
  • Easy to Install
  • Maintenance Freedom

American Grating LLC proudly announces the arrival of New GRIDWALK® High Strength grating to replace original GRIDWALK® standard grating
  • No increase in cost
  • Up to 150% to 270% stronger than other manufacturers’ standard grating
  • Comparable with other manufacturer’s compression molded grating
  • Competitive with most metal gratings
  • No reduction in corrosion resistance
American Grating LLC is pleased to announce the arrival of GRIDWALK® HS High Strength grating, which has replaced all standard GRIDWALK® grating. The most advantageous qualities of the new grating is its ability to withstand more weight at a greater span, therefore gaining a competitive advantage against metal gratings and other fiberglass grating products. This results in significant savings on grating supports. This innovative process is achieved by realizing a higher glass content, although not compromising any of the other inherent qualities of molded grating such as corrosion resistance, fire resistance, ease of fabrication, non slip and light weight properties. This stronger GRIDWALK® HS FRP grating is available to the customer without any increase in cost.
